The new revolutionary Thule WanderWay 2 (911) tailgate bike carrier is the most sturdy and safe bike carrier for tailgate mounting and has been specially developed for the Volkswagen T6 tailgate. The assembly itself is also very simple. The tailgate bike carrier is already completely pre-assembled, so you can mount it on the car. The maximum payload per bike is 30 kg, so you can also place electric bikes / e-bikes on the Thule WanderWay 911.
Tailgate bicycle carrier Volkswagen T6
The WanderWay 911 is Thule’s latest premium tailgate bike carrier. This first-class bike carrier has a raised platform, so the rear lights and license plate of the Volkswagen T6 are still fully visible, so you don’t have to buy additional products to meet all legal requirements. In addition, the bike carrier is delivered completely pre-assembled. This means that you can place the tailgate bike carrier directly from the box on your VW T6.
The Thule 911 tailgate bike carrier is suitable for:
- Volkswagen Multivan 6 – year of construction: 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020
- Volkswagen Transporter 6 – year of construction: 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020
Expandable to 4 bikes
The Thule 911 bike carrier is standard suitable for transporting 2 bikes. However, you can also purchase extensions for the Thule WanderWay. This allows you to put up to 4 bikes on the carrier. In addition, the bike carrier is suitable for bikes with a maximum wheel size of 29 inches and a maximum wheelbase of 127 cm. As a result, almost every bike fits on the carrier.
Tailgate bike carrier suitable for e-bikes
The bicycle carrier has a maximum load capacity of 60 kg in total, but also a maximum load capacity of 30 kg per bicycle. This means that you can also use the WanderWay to transport 2 electric bikes on your VW T6. In addition, the wheel gutters have a distance of no less than 31 cm between them, so you can also leave accessories such as panniers on the bikes.
Thule WanderWay 2 Accessories (911)
For the Thule WanderWay 911 the following accessories are available and can be ordered along with it:
- Thule WanderWay 3rd Bike Adapter 9116: Thule 9116 consists of a 3rd wheel gutter and 3rd frame clamp to extend the WanderWay’s load capacity to 3 bikes.
- Thule WanderWay 4td Bike Adapter 9117: this adapter set also consists of an additional wheel gutter. However, the wheel gutter consists of 2 parts in opposition to the 3rd bike adapter. In addition, the 4th frame clamp is used to mount a 4th bike on the Thule 911 tailgate bike carrier and is placed between the 3rd and 4th bikes.
- Thule Carbon Frame Protector 984: This protection is placed around a carbon frame of the bike. In combination with the supplied Acu-Tight buttons on the frame clamp, the tailgate bike carrier can also be used on bikes with a vulnerable (carbon) frame.
- Thule Bike Frame Adapter 982: Some bikes have a special frame, so the frame mount of the Thule WanderWay 2 may not fit. The Thule 982 is placed between the seatpost and handlebar stem of the bike. This allows you to attach the frame clamp to the bike at any time.
